Welcome to our vibrant community! This is a space for connection, collaboration, and genuine exchange — and to keep that spirit alive, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines. These help us communicate openly, share ideas with care, and create a respectful digital environment for everyone.
Take a moment to read through them, they’re key elements of what makes this community feel like a good place to land, grow, and belong.

Profile and Communication
Profile Information: Use your real name and upload a recognizable photo of your face. This strengthens personal connections.
Introductions: New members are encouraged to introduce themselves in #introduction to build a sense of community and find people with similar interests (link works once you're signed up).
Stay on Topic: Keep discussions relevant to the channel’s theme to maintain meaningful conversations.
Positive Engagement: Contribute positively with constructive feedback and support. Negative behavior will not be tolerated.
Value Sharing: Provide value through insightful content, useful resources, or relevant discussions.
Respectful Communication: Ensure all communication is respectful. Hate speech or offensive language will not be tolerated. Any posts that violate the law or diverge from our community’s core values will be promptly removed, and your account will be temporarily disabled. Repeated violations will lead to membership termination without refunds (in case of a Vendor account). Unsolicited DMs of a private nature, including attempts to hit on or pursue other members, are not allowed and may result in account restrictions. If you’re unsure whether a message would be unsolicited, comment on the person’s post instead. If they show no intention of wanting to receive DMs, then it is unsolicited.
Prompt Replies: Enable Slack notifications for prompt replies to inquiries. Timely responses enhance engagement and member satisfaction.
Language and Content
No Duplication: Posting duplicate messages across channels is not allowed. This includes sharing your message in a second channel or rewriting it to make it look like a different post.
Language Use: All posts should be in English, except for the #language-exchanges-lessons-events channel, where all languages are welcome. If your event is not suitable for English speakers, you may post in a different language but explain this to prevent your post from being removed.
Long Posts: If your post is lengthy (more than one mobile screen), provide a summary and post additional details/photos in the thread for clarity.
Detailed Posts: Whether advertising services, products, or accommodation, include price, pictures (if applicable), and contact information. Detailed posts attract more interest and engagement.
Avoid Controversy: Refrain from starting or engaging in discussions on polarizing subjects, including politics, religion, or controversial movements.
Posting Guidelines
Channel Relevance: Use the appropriate channels for your messages and write only in one channel. With over 15 channels, there’s always a dedicated channel for your post.
Local Focus: Only events/posts related to Rome are allowed to maintain the relevance of our community. Use #the-rest-of-Rome or #the-rest-of-Italy for unrelated posts.
Prohibited Content: Sharing ‘get-rich-quick opportunities,’ investment opportunities, crowdfunding, affiliate links, multilevel marketing, and similar businesses is strictly prohibited. Your post will be deleted, and your account will be temporarily or permanently disabled.
The distribution of WhatsApp group links, or those of similar platforms, is governed by specific limitations. For instance, it is not permitted to share links to groups that have identical objectives to the channel where they are being shared, nor is it allowed to share links to groups that aim to bypass our community guidelines. Each link will be evaluated individually.
Accommodation Listings: Advertising accommodation is only allowed in #accommodation_offers. Listings must include price, photos of the inside of the property, and availability. Advertising in other channels will result in a temporary ban from the community.
Event Announcements: Weekly events can be announced only once per week. Events with a commercial touch are considered advertising. Confirm with the admin if unsure.
Event Sharing: Events must include details on time, location, price, and other relevant information. Follow frequency limits for posting events to avoid overwhelming the community and a community ban.
Event Updates: Keep event-related posts updated with any changes, cancellations, or additional details. Don’t make members show up to a canceled event. Edit posts rather than deleting and reposting them.
Advertising and Promotion
Advertising Frequency: Advertising your services or products is limited to once a week. Post in the most relevant channel. If unsure, contact the admin for guidance.
No Promotional Spam: Avoid excessive self-promotion or repetitive messages. Don’t DM community members with your business proposals without permission. Report any unsolicited business proposals to the admin.
Collaborations: If you want to collaborate with Let's Meet in Rome, reach out to the admin via email or Instagram. We are always open to working together to improve our community.
Communication Techniques
Threaded Replies: Use the reply thread feature to keep conversations organized. Avoid using “Also send to channel” unless absolutely relevant. The admin will delete comments that do not comply with this rule.
Message Pinning: Do not pin or unpin messages. Use “Add to saved items” to keep track of important posts. Keep in mind that messages disappear after 90 days.
Mindful Mentions: Use @mentions wisely to ensure notifications are relevant and valuable.
Consequences of Violation
Rule Violations: Breaking the rules will result in a temporary account suspension. Repeated violations will lead to a permanent community ban.
Reporting Concerns: Report inappropriate content or behavior to the admin for prompt action.

Liability of Let's Meet in Rome!: Let's Meet in Rome! acts solely as a facilitator and does not participate in any agreements made between Vendors and community members. Let's Meet in Rome! is not liable for any issues, damages, or disputes arising from the use of the community platform.
